ABOUT THE PATAGONIA SUR NATURE RESERVE The Patagonia Sur Nature Reserve, is a network of stunning, “best of the best” properties in Chilean Patagonia. This reserve will encompass more than 100,000 acres of extraordinary highlights including: pristine coastal areas, scenic river valleys, spectacular lake frontages, soaring glacier-covered volcanoes, majestic fjords, verdant forests, and unspoiled wildlife habitats. Valle California is a stunning Patagonian valley that embodies the essence of Patagonia: it is framed by snow-capped mountains and features a pristine, winding river and verdant stretches of land. However, much of what is now open pasture was once thick forest that was burned indiscriminately by settlers in the early 1900s. Since then, invasive plant species and unsustainable cattle ranching have prevented areas of Valle California from renewing itself. Patagonia Sur’s reforestation project reverses this trend: it improves the already breathtakingly scenic vistas and preserves the local Patagonian culture – all while mitigating the damaging effects of global warming by absorbing carbon dioxide currently in the earth's atmosphere.
