Charles Henderson

Charles is a consultant with a strong focus on carbon credit development. He is available for contract work as a carbon originator.

Recently, Charles established Janeemo carbon balancing in Malawi, a tree-based offset service, supporting smallholder agroforestry using Jatropha, Neem and Moringa.

He is currently studying a part time forestry MSc at Bangor University.

Charles has also originated other voluntary projects, including energy efficiency and renewables for CarbonNeutral Newcastle, a regional offset initiative. He is an experienced project manager and has a strong technical focus. As a Carbon Trust Standard assessor, he has assisted eight FTSE businesses to compile carbon footprint data and evidence of strategy and management. He is also working with Scottish communities to calculate carbon baselines and map out a practical sustainable future using his own bespoke approach, ‘community carbon pathways’.

Charles is a qualified journalist and wrote a special report on voluntary carbon offset for ENDS Report in 2010. He has a good understanding of the standards, buyers and sellers who operate in the space, as well as trends in the market. He is an experienced project communicator and has produced films, websites and a schools education programme.
