Alexander Koch

Independent Consultant with experience in:

- Financing for forest conservation: Forest carbon, REDD+, other financing solutions for ecosystem conservation.

- Managing carbon projects: Project identification and screening, PDD, validation/registration.

- Involving and training stakeholders from developing and developed countries: Capacity building on the community level, policy advice to governments and assistance to the private sector on ecosystem conservation, bioenergy and climate change.

Before his current position, Alexander worked with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in Nairobi and Paris. He helped develop UNEP’s activities in the areas of forest carbon and bio-energy. In addition, Alexander acted as the focal point for the area of REDD+ for UNEP Paris. He also managed carbon projects in Latin America, Africa and South Asia with OneCarbon International, and developed an efficient cook stoves project for the World Food Programme in Kenya. Alex holds a University Master's Degree in Environmental Management and Restoration, a University Extension Diploma in Wildlife and Natural Areas Management and the German University Law Degree.
