Brian McFarland is the Director of Carbonfund.org's Project Portfolio where he identifies, conducts due diligence, and structures the financial support for carbon projects in the energy efficiency, renewable energy and forestry sectors. Brian is also the Director of Project Origination for CarbonCo, where he identifies and develops REDD+ projects including the Russas, Valparaiso and Purus Projects.
Brian earned a dual graduate degree in Business Administration and Global Environmental Policy from American University. His thesis was entitled, The Origins, Development and Potential of the International REDD+ Market. Brian has also published 17 articles and a book entitled, REDD+ and Business Sustainability: A Guide to Reversing Deforestation for Forward Thinking Companies (see here).
Brian is a Project Management Institute (PMI)-accredited Project Management Professional (PMP), CSA Standards Certified GHG Inventory Quantifier, a member of the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments’ Air and Climate Public Advisory Committee, and a member of the Climate, Community and Biodiversity Standard Revisions Committee.
