For 10 years, a number of Oaxacan communities have contributed their bit to reduce the effects of global warming.
Hand in hand with the Civil Partnership Environmental Services Oaxaca (SAO), Pronatura and the National Forestry Commission (Conafor), communities in areas of the Sierra Juarez and South, as well as the Coast and the Mixteca, have learned to raise economic funds in a sustainable manner.
Oaxacan Communities have grown their forest, learnt how to take care and see they see them as an option to help the environment through carbon sequestration. Men and women have learned to neutralize the carbon dioxide emissions, a greenhouse gas that prevents the heat output of the atmosphere and causes overheating of the planet.
