German Government identifies Brazilian State Acre as potential for a jurisdiscional REDD program

The state of Acre is recognized in national and international scene for its social and environmental policies that add natural resource preservation and valuation of traditional communities and indigenous peoples. These factors ensured that the German government in the State identified the potential to run a program for Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and forest Degradation (REDD).

 
Through REDD Early Movers (REM), executed by KFW Bankengrupp and GIZ, which is based on encouraging pioneering initiatives to conserve forests, the German government and the State of Acre are about to implement REDD-scale court, or that is, regulated by a government policy. In the specific case of Acre, the Incentive Scheme for Payment for Environmental Services of the State of Acre (SISA), which is regulated by the Institute for Climate Change and Regulatory Climate (IMC).
