A final REDD+ Partnership Document has now been sent out to the countries attending the Oslo Climate and Forest Conference for their political endorsement. The document is attached to this email.  [Attached as PDF at bottom of page]

You will notice that it has changed quite substantially from the version that was sent for public comments on April 28. The “core group of facilitating countries” – growing to 34 countries (see below), worked intensively for 8 days after the deadline for public comments. There was a lot of discussions on how best to incorporate many of the inputs received. Countries were most appreciative for the constructive comments, and quite a few of the suggestions have been incorporated in the final text.

As with any negotiation, all countries had to give and take. The partnership document reflects a middle ground that all could in the end accept. Norway strongly believes that this is a significant step forward, to provide for the effective, efficient and equitable scaling-up of actions and support. We also believe that the partnership platform will benefit from continued inputs from civil society, indigenous peoples groups and the private sectors in the months and years to come.

We would like to hold a last conference call before the Oslo conference, on Tuesday May 25 at 2pm CET. Please see dial-in numbers below. We would suggest that we focus our discussions on (i) the partnership document itself, in light of comments received before May 12, and (ii) proposals for next steps in the partnership to ensure we deliver on our objectives.

We also look forward welcoming a number of invited representatives from civil society and indigenous peoples in Oslo on May 26-27.
