RECOFTC – The Center for People and Forests holds a unique and important place in the world of forestry. It is the only international not‐for‐profit organization that specializes in capacity building for community forestry and devolved forest management. With over 20 years of international experience and a dynamic approach to capacity building – involving research and analysis, demonstration sites, and training products – RECOFTC delivers innovative solutions for people and forests.
RECOFTC is seeking a Training Officer to work in the Cambodia Country Program Office (CCP). The successful applicant will be based in Phnom Penh. The contract duration is for 2 years with a possibility of extension depending on performance and availability of funding.
Summary:
The Training Officer (TO) will report to the RECOFTC Cambodia Country Program Coordinator (CPC) and under the direct supervision of Cambodia Country Program’s Training Coordinator and in coordination with the CF Partnership Coordinator and other RECOFTC headquarters staff. S/he will have the following roles and responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
The Training Officer will work closely with the CCP and project teams to assist in the development, implementation and monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of training program activities of RECOFTC projects in Cambodia. S/he will actively work with multidisciplinary teams to develop, implement, monitor and evaluate training activities of CCP projects as follows:
- Help prepare work and budget plans for the training components of RECOFTC
projects in Cambodia.
- Participate and assist in conducting training needs assessments, training reflection
sessions and analysis;
- Participate and assist in the planning, conduct, facilitation and evaluation of training
courses, workshops and learning activities (including study tours);
- Assist in the development and packaging of training curricula, courses, modules and
materials (in English and Khmer);
- Help review and update contents and materials for training courses based on
feedback and lessons learned derived from evaluation;
- Participate and assist the CCP team in monitoring, evaluation, and improvement/
modification of project training and learning activities;
- Help in rights and gender mainstreaming in training and learning activities;
- Network with other natural resource and environment organizations and projects to
share and learn lessons on CF/CPA establishment and development training and
action;
- Help with the preparation of training reports and project quarterly reports on
training activities; and
- Help maintain and update CCP project training ledger
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Cambodia Country Coordinator
Qualifications:
The Training Officer will have the following minimum qualifications and experience:
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or Natural Resource Management;
- Minimum 3‐5 years working experience in teaching, adult learning and development
of training materials;
- Good written and verbal Khmer and English;
- Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office applications;
- Demonstrable strong experience in applying participatory tools and methodologies in
capacity building or training activities;
- Demonstrated experience in training course planning design, development, delivery,
facilitation, evaluation, reporting, and networking;
- Proven ability to write in a clear and concise manner and to communicate effectively
orally. Ability to prepare capacity building or training concept note, training proposal,
and report.
- Gender sensitive
- Cambodian National or Non‐ Cambodian national residing and working in the country
- Willingness to travel frequently to the projects field sites.
Desirable
- Strong team building, leadership, and networking qualities
- Possess leadership personality, and able to take on and solve problems quickly and
efficiently;
- Hands‐on experience and able to work independently with minimum supervision;
- Familiarization/experience with CF/CPA implementation in Cambodia.
