SNV – Netherlands Development Organisation Location
SNV is planning to scale up activities in Indonesia to support the millions ofdisadvantaged people living on the archipelago. SNV will concentrate activities around four key sectors:Agriculture, Water,Sanitation and Hygiene, Renewable Energy and REDD+. For the REDD+ sector SNV commissioned a report and undertook a scoping mission in January 2012 in order to better understand the current REDD+ landscape in Indonesia; to meet the various stakeholders and to identify potential needs.
This consultant will work closely with the SNV Global REDD+ Advisor
Tasks of the consultant:
1. Learn about SNVs work in Agriculture, Renewable Energy, and REDD+ Sectors [in particular the REDD+ sixkey Intervention Areas]; liase closely with the SNV REDD+ Global Coordinator and wider team;
2. For each of the 5 Priority Areas identified carry out an initial scoping assessment to determine on-going (as well as past) activities being implemented in Indonesia and suggest the best strategy in the context of Indonesia[sub nationalLow Emission Development Planning, Sustainable Agriculture,Participatory Forest Monitoring,Reduced Biomass Local Energy Solutionsand Bundling REDD+ Payments;
3. Produce a report summarising strategy and program description for each of the Priority Areas;
4. Based on internal feedback of the initial report, undertake a more detailed assessment to determine actual country specific activitiesfor the 5 Priority Areas. Efforts to link activities across the Priority Areas should be made;
5. Provide detailed description of the Activities for the 5 Priority Areas [Action Plans]; this must include the actual geographical sites for implementation [and rationale for the sites]; description of local partners [government, institutes and local and international NGOs] to work with in the area; Outcome, Outputs and Activities; and indicative costs;
6. Carry out visits to potential field sites; engage with local stakeholders to validate and provide further details for the reports; and
7. Carry out donor mapping and identify donors interested in the different [Action Plans] as well as upcoming possible calls.
Expected outputs and deliverables:
The Consultant should provide the following deliverables:
(a) Initial report detailing on-going work and potential strategy for the 5 Priority Areas. This should be completed 2 weeks after start of the assignment and submitted to the Task manager before moving onto the Action Plans.
(b) Detailed reports and Activity Plans for the 5 Priority Areas based on the agreement with the structure and contents for the Action Plan
Timeframe and Location
The consultant will be recruited for a total of 35 days to be completed no later
than October 14th.Field visits by the consultant are expected.
