Event Summary
A side event on Forest Law and the Empowerment of the Poor, organized by the FAO Development Law Service, will be held on 22 October 2009, during the XIII World Forestry Congress, in Buenos Aires, Argentina.Panelists will evaluate how Forest and Wildlife Legislation may be used as instruments for empowerment and change. The session will provide a forum to discuss:
- Forest law in Latin America and its impacts on the poor (Red Latinoamericana de Derecho Forestal and FAO/InWent);
- Wildlife Legislation and Empowerment of the Poor (FAO);
- Legal empowerment and REDD - reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation (IDLO)
